Internship: Social Design & Change

A real social challenge to sink your teeth into. You help design how you get a stuck norm moving again — with #EchtMannelijk as our biggest project right now.

At Nami we make all sorts of products that shift behaviour — from films, posters and social to websites, apps and games. We don't start with a message, but with the person: what really moves someone, and which approach makes them see (and do) things differently? For example: #EchtMannelijk is our effort to shift the culture around masculinity; for women's safety and men's mental health. As a social designer, you help design the intervention that sets that in motion.

What you'll work on

• Designing the approach — how do you tip a norm? You help think through the strategy behind the movement: which levers work, and why.

• Audience and "lived-world" research — you dig into what moves people in different worlds and translate that into an approach that lands in that world.

• Inventing formats and interventions — an intervention that actually touches behaviour. That could be a campaign, poster, website, app or game. Devise, prototype, test, adjust.

• Thinking about partners and support — how you get organisations, schools or employers on board with the change.

Who you'll learn from

You'll be mentored by Ilia ten Böhmer, filmmaker and founder of Nami (& the initiator of #EchtMannelijk), together with the rest of our team. You'll sit right at the intersection of behavioural science, strategy and creation — where research and an abstract insight becomes a concrete intervention.

Who we're looking for

• You study Change & Innovation, social advertising, social design or something other relevant (bachelor/master level).

• You want to tackle social problems for real and get change moving — not endless meetings, but thinking, making and doing.

• You're curious about what moves people and dare to test your design in practice.

• You work independently and collaborate well across disciplines.

Practical

• Start: from September 2026 (earlier or later by arrangement)

• Commitment: 3-5 days per week

• Location: Utrecht - partly remote by arrangement

• Allowance: internship allowance
