Digital Pioneers

Demystifying Bitcoin. As the first Dutch Bitcoin company, Bitonic believes a alternative, decentralized currency can empower everyone. We captured their 10-year journey to spark fresh debates about money.

Mission

Bitonic—the first Dutch bitcoin company—set out to demystify cryptocurrency for a broader audience. By championing Bitcoin's potential to create a more democratic and open financial future, Bitonic hopes to empower individuals around the globe with greater control over their assets.

Approach

Though this project predates our fully integrated behavioral science & research frameworks, we collaborated closely with Bitonic’s founding team—true pioneers who saw Bitcoin’s promise long before it gained mainstream attention. Our goal: produce a documentary that demystifies cryptocurrency and underscores its potential for societal good. Using a mix of candid interviews, accessible explanations, and rich visuals, we aimed to engage both crypto-enthusiasts and newcomers, making complex ideas feel relatable and urgent.

Insight

The real power of Bitcoin lies not in its technical complexity, but in its promise of empowering individuals worldwide. By focusing on the “why” rather than just the “how,” we could reveal Bitcoin from a niche tech product into a catalyst for positive change and inclusivity.

Idea

Through candid interviews, striking visuals, and thoughtful commentary, we produced a 47-minute feature documentary, a succinct 15-minute version for the anniversary event, and a high-impact 1-minute trailer. This multi-format approach brought the energy of Bitonic’s story to a wide range of audiences, illustrating how Bitcoin might revolutionize our financial systems.

Impact

More than a retrospective, the documentary provoked vital conversations about how decentralized finance can diversify and strengthen our global monetary frameworks. Audiences came away seeing Bitcoin not just as an alternative currency, but as a spark for broader financial inclusion and empowerment. This project remains a testament to our commitment to storytelling that drives dialogue and paves the way for a fairer economic future.
